The two shrimp's paired up immediately with the resident goby, leaving the other goby all alone, and a bit freaked out by the very aggressive watchman. Some pistol shrimp species share burrows with goby fish in a mutualistic symbiotic relationship. The burrow is built and tended by the pistol shrimp, and the goby provides protection by watching out for danger.
