Born on April 30, 1957, as John “Kit” Hesketh-Harvey in the former Nyasaland (now Malawi), he went to Canterbury Cathedral and then Tonbridge School in Kent. Hesketh-Harvey studied English literature at Clare College, Cambridge. Hesketh-Harvey wrote and sang with pianist Richard Sisson for over 30 years, as a musical comedy duo Kit and The Widow.
