Web27 de jun. de 2024 · I don't use concrete for posts, Tamping a 4x4 in a 12 inch hole is too much work. A 9 inch auger is plenty big enough. Dig a small pilot hole for the auger to get precision holes from a 3 point auger. Remember as you lower the auger, to move the tractor to get a vertical hole since the auger boom describes an arc in its travel. If you didn't already buy them I suggest you learn about metal posts, they are usually much less expensive and easier to set, as well as somewhat safer around livestock than PT wood.
